For one thing, they share similar ideas about what’s important in life, and what they love doing in their spare time (not that there’s a ton of that for these two busy bees who always have a new project on the horizon, like Katie’s podcast series about a hard-hitting topic). You were also wondering what makes them such a perfect pair. “I started calling him ‘Molner.’ He stopped calling me ‘Couric’ and started calling me ‘Katie’ - sometimes ‘Kate,’ which is weird. “He started by calling me ‘Couric,'” Katie explains. We already know he’s an incredible partner who co-founded KCM and supported Katie through writing her memoir ( and was totally cool with the deeply personal stories she included in it), but there’s one question we hear all the time about our favorite couple: Why does Katie call him by his last name? One thing you’re always curious about is her relationship with her husband, John Molner. Katie loves engaging with our Wake-Up Call community, which is filled with incredible subscribers who’ve shared so much with us - including their greatest accomplishments and their eye-opening stories about abortion - so when we got questions from our readers about her family life, she couldn’t wait to dive in and spill the details.

5/29/2023 0 Comments Photographer saul leiterAfter that first exposure as a teenager, there was never a time when he stopped painting. He independently studied art history at the University of Pittsburgh library nearby and got an early exposure to French and Japanese art, which greatly influenced his paintings and later his photography. He painted in the attic of his parents’ house in Pittsburgh throughout his teenage years. Saul was immediately inspired, and he went out that very day and bought painting supplies. He was visiting a friend’s girlfriend in New York who had recently taken up painting. Margit Erb: For Saul, the inspiration to start painting struck him like love at first sight. We spoke with Margit Erb and Michael Parillo of the Saul Leiter Foundation to unravel the beauty of his work. There are many unknowns behind his personal life and creative pursuits. After making a name for himself as a fashion photographer in the 1950s, Leiter suddenly stepped out of the spotlight and continued to pursue his own creative activities. American photographer Saul Leiter is often described as a "pioneer of color photography." The timeless piece above, Purple Umbrella (1950s), which still fascinates people around the world, has joined the UT collection, marking the first time that it is printed on apparel. 5/29/2023 0 Comments Kira buxtonDennis, on the other hand, didn’t skip a beat, hurling himself toward the rogue eyeball. All Fall Down (2015) is a young adult novel by teen-fiction author Ally Carter. What this short story collection does that her novel did not do for me is throw so many amazing ideas in my face. To be clear, it’s not a question of her writing skill but just my particular tastes. It put me off reading her much-acclaimed Broken Earth books for a long time (I’m still on the fence). Jemisin’s The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms was less successful. I’m doubly surprised, because my foray into N.K. But there were only one or two stories that left me scratching me head and shrugging and saying, “Eh, I didn’t get the one.” The rest were … wow. It seems like every time I review a short story anthology I always start with a disclaimer about how short stories, and by extension, their anthologies, are not really “for me.” In this case I need to say it because How Long ’Til Black Future Month? is one of those rare exceptions where I … I actually liked pretty much every story in here. 5/28/2023 0 Comments Arsene lupin herlock sholmesThough this is crime fiction, the writing of the author is very witty and an element of fun lingers everywhere. Lupin is a master of disguise and keeps smiling through difficulties and dangers. I began this and did not stop till the end that is always an achievement for me as I am a reader, who reads a book in installments, taking my time, switching to other books to avoid boredom and having multiple tasks in between. It was published in the UK under the title of Arsene Lupin versus Holmlock Shears in 1909. This second book of collection of two long stories was Arsene Lupin Contre Herlock Sholmes in France. After a legal objection from Canon Doyle, the name of British master sleuth was changed to Herlock Sholmes. The interesting fact is that in the book where Lupin first appeared, there was a tale called “Sherlock Holmes arrives too late” where Leblanc introduced the famous Baker Street detective to his mix. In the introduction, I came to know that in 1905 Leblanc was solicited to contribute a short story to be written in the manner of Sherlock Holmes. I was never aware of this gentleman thief, but after reading this first book, I became an immediate fan of his elegance and alacrity, at the same time the prowess and brilliance of Leblanc’s storytelling earned a special place right away in the list of my loved authors. He is called literature’s greatest gentleman thief and detective. Arsene Lupin! Socrates was put on trial in 399 BC for allegedly corrupting. (John Madison), 1939- Publication date 2000 Topics Socrates Publisher Indianapolis, IN : Hackett Pub. The trial and death of Socrates are some of the most tragic chapters in philosophical history. (George Maximilian Anthony) Cooper, John M. Writing in the fourth century B.C., in an Athens that had suffered a humiliating defeat in the Peloponnesian War, Plato formulated questions that have haunted the moral, religious, and political imagination of the West for more than 2,000 years: what is virtue? How should we love? What constitutes a good society? Is there a soul that outlasts the body and a truth that transcends appearance? What do we know and how do we know it? Plato's inquiries were all the more resonant because he couched them in the form of dramatic and often highly comic dialogues, whose principal personage was the ironic, teasing, and relentlessly searching philosopher Socrates. In this splendid collection, Scott Buchanan brings together the most important of Plato's dialogues, including Protagoras, The Symposium, with its barbed conjectures about the relation between love and madness, Phaedo and The Republic, his monumental work of political philosophy.
